Message from the CEO/Executive Director

Hi I am Mary Innocenzi, aka Miss Mary,

Some 30 years ago I had a vision: To provide higher quality early child care for young children.  I am proud to say that my vision was realized when I welcomed my first families into The Village Learning Center.  I believe that providing a great loving staff and creating an appropriate learning environment would give children a lifelong journey to achievement and accomplishment.

I started my career path as an Art Teacher and later went back for a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Development and Special Education.  In 1982 I opened a small center, five years later; I also operated the NJ Division of Transportation’s child care center.  After 15 years of operating two centers, I bought 17 acres of land in Pennington, NJ.   And built a state-of-the-art center, so I could focus on operating one high quality child care facility designed to my specifications right down to having multiple play outside areas with a bathroom to allow for safe and convenient play, among other unique features you will find at our center.

I am proud to say that The Village Learning Center was voted best Child Care Center in the Tri County area, and received National Accreditation just two years after we opened our doors.  Since 1998, we have effectively nurtured, educated and provided care to well over 1000 children in the Pennington/Hopewell surrounding area.

Staying apprised of the latest innovations in early childhood development is the cornerstone of our center.  I continue to keep up-to-date with the early childhood field as I learn from research, attend seminars and gain new insights about what we need to do in order to care for and teach effectively. I truly believe in knowledge sharing so I pass along what I learn to our teachers, directors, families and other business owners through training workshops and blogs.

I find it amazing that I wrote my mission statement over 30 years ago “The Village Learning Center is committed to provide families with a nurturing, secure, environment where children can develop to their fullest potential” and it stills pertain to today.

I am so proud of The Village Learning Center; it has developed into a center with a welcoming family atmosphere, and encourages all of the children to develop a positive self-image.  Learning and development is promoted in each of the following areas: social, emotional, physical, language and cognitive for all age groups. We continue to strengthen the positive effects on children’s education and school readiness through our goals and objectives.

I look forward to answering all of your questions and personally welcoming your family into ours.

Miss Mary
